America’s Great Loop

What is America’s Great Loop

The Great Loop is a continuous waterway encompassing Eastern North America including  part of the Atlantic, Gulf Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes, Canadian Heritage Canals, and the inland rivers of America's heartland. We've embedded below an interactive map of America's Great Loop.

Planning for the Great Loop

There are plenty of resources available on the internet to help you prepare for the trip of a lifetime. Our favorite is Captain John’s website.
We strongly recommend perusing this website to find out whether you have the right boat to complete the trip, what skills it would take and all the nitty gritty details that you should be aware of when planning for such a trip.

Why i-Boating is for the “Loopers”?

The i-Boating application  includes detailed charts for the waterways in HD detail. For some waterways like the Erie Canal, i-Boating offers the most detailed bathymetric coverage for the waterway.  Most of the inland rivers also have HD detail.
All charts can be downloaded for offline use. The i-Boating application can work with both internal and external GPS receivers. If your boat has NMEA Wifi Gateway / Transmitter, the i-Boating application can pull all NMEA data and display it on the i-Boating application. You can use our online chart viewer to see all the details we offer for America's great loop.
